Three New Deacons

Three Dominican brothers of the Irish Dominican Province were ordained deacons by the archbishop of Dublin on 16th February.
The rite of ordination was celebrated during Mass at St Saviour's Dominican Church, Dominick Street, Dublin, in the presence of Dominican friars, parishioners, and the family and friends of the three men.
Br Colm Mannion OP is originally from Birr, County Offaly, and worked with an international airline before entering the novitiate in 2007.
Br Luuk Jansen OP, from the Netherlands, was baptised in Galway after having pursued postgraduate studies there and while he was working as an engineer. He entered the novitiate also in 2007 a number of years after his baptism.
Br Matthew Martinez OP, from Trinidad where the Irish Dominican Province has a mission, was the third member of the novitiate of 2007-2008.
The brothers have been studying philosophy and theology in NUI Maynooth and in the Irish province's Centre of Institutional Studies, Dublin ('studium').
